FAQ: PSIcle sensor: Measure tire pressure with your phone!
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

How do I select an HP or LP sensor?

We’ll send out a survey asking which sensor type(s) you would like for order. You can even mix and match (e.g. 2 LP, 2 HP for a 4 sensor order!)

Does the PSIcle sensor read in real time while I ride?

No. The sensor can only be powered and read by holding your phone up to it, so it’s just intended for spot checks when you’re stopped.

Will the PSIcle sensor work on my car/truck/atv/rv?

No, this sensor only works with Presta bike valves. Sign up at www.roverdev.us to be notified of future product releases for Schraeder valves.

Will the PSIcle sensor work with my specific tube?

Not necessarily. Not all tubes have removable valve cores, so you need to be sure you can remove yours. If yours don’t remove, Continental Race tubes are an example of tubes that generally seem to have removable valve cores.

Will the PSIcle sensor work with tubeless tires?

Yes, as long as your valve core is removable.

Does the PSIcle sensor work with sealant?

Yes. Sealants differ, but we have had good experience with sealants we’ve tested with the PSIcle sensor. The sensor can even read accurately if a thin membrane of sealant completely covers the pressure inlet. Plus, since you won’t need to use a pressure gauge on your valve, sealant won’t squirt out through the valve when you try to read your pressure. Air will generally only go in through the sensor, not out. However, it’s a good idea to put sealant through the valve when the PSIcle sensor is removed. This both ensures that the sensor is exposed to less sealant and it will also make the sealant much easier to add.

Will the PSIcle sensor work with my phone?

Probably. The PSIcle app works with iPhone 7 and up, and with virtually all Android phones. If you can install the app at the play store (search for “PSIcle”), it should run fine.

I love the PSIcle sensor! Can you integrate it with [insert cycling app here]

As you can imagine, this depends entirely upon how many people adopt it. Tell your friends about the campaign and the likelihood of integration increases!

How can the PSIcle sensor achieve such high accuracy?

We use the same sensor that your phone uses for a barometer. These sensors are made to have very high accuracy. We also achieve high accuracy by subtracting the ambient pressure from your phone’s barometric sensor from the PSIcle sensor measurement to account for differences in atmospheric pressure where you are.

What if a rock hits the sensor? Won't it break?

Unlikely. The sensor is molded in EPDM rubber, the same rubber that is molded over your car tire valves. It’s incredibly durable and can take a real beating.

Won't the extra weight throw off my tire balance?

Unlikely. The sensor weighs 5 grams, which is a very small fraction of the 500+ grams that your wheels and tires weigh. It’s barely less weight than the extension by itself.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
